Re: GPU Queue

I think as long as each subtask corresponding to what is currently a work unit is checkpointed, 5 to 10 old WUs can comfortably fit into a new WU. 50 to 100 might be a little excessive for slower setups, especially if the CPU version is not discontinued.

Re: GPU Queue

As far as packaging multiple images per job. We will only do 2 images per job at this time (once we release the new app versions) due to BOINC not having a way to handle jobs of varying sizes. In the future we hope to work with BOINC so that we can offer a range of jobs so that powerful machines can get big jobs and less powerful machines can get smaller jobs.

Moo! Wrapper claims they're sending variable-sized tasks depending on computer-capabilities in this news-post from 22.05.2011, http://moowrap.net/forum_thread.php?id=50

Re: GPU Queue

We had this before: Unless contributed back to Berkeley, accepted and integrated into trunk, it remains skunkwork [local project modding]. Was it contributed back? Never heard on the previous case, 3-6 months go.

Re: GPU Queue

but but....what about us guys who can only do two gpu workunits in 40 mins?
With any move of my mouse, i lose whatever work has been done by my puny gpu.
Packing 100 units would mean 30 hours work for me....way more of a cache than I would want.
and how about enlarged filesizes and the issues that raises.

I am sure that the techs chose double units carefully.

Checking "Leave application in memory when suspended" does not help?

Re: GPU Queue

No, suspend a GPU task and it will unload.
