Just wait and report back after you've downloaded and crunched a 4 meg unit I'd like to know how you find out the size of the WU, apart from being in front of the PC (or 'rig') when it's talking to the WCG server. Anyone got any ideas? |

UD mon of course.
----------------------------------------After a lil while one can tell the file sizes.....and approx how long they will take on your own rigs. Currently on a 10 hour jobbie. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 20, 2005 10:05:36 PM] |

Thanks Graham (and pup of course) but I didn't make myself clear
I have heard mention of "a 4 Meg unit" and wondered if there was anywhere in the software that tells me the file size of the unit, and possibly if anyone here can tell me if this has any significance anyway. FTAOD I am able to convert time (hh:mm) into decimals, even without the use of Excel I checked your links Graham and I can agree with the postings there; I have seen some very odd behaviour coming from the agent on occasion. I had a unit last week that was 40-ish% complete after 3 hours. Before another 30 minutes had passed it had completed that and started another BTW big respect to Graham for his truly outstanding graphics and banners - I wish I was half as good |

I would imagine that, although a calculation works as a general guide....how long a unit will take is very much dependent on how much "potentially" useful data it contains.
Also, different batches of units will probably behave differently. Just my humble opinion. |

Graham, stop swiping at me.....it is getting boring!!! (I thought forum guidelines were applicable to everyone???) |

Thanks Graham, I appreciate the effort you have put in
I will set it up later; I will pop it onto Photobucket so I won't be hogging your bandwidth - very much appreciated |

The data for the work units is usually about 1MB, and sometimes as little as 0.5 MB. If you get a download in the 4MB range, you are almost certainly downloading the Rosetta program along with it. If you have viruses, bad disk sectors, or some other strange problem on your machine, only then, would you repeatedly get these larger downloads. If this is the case, you might want to use the "contact us" link and give me your device ID nuimber from the preferences window and we will see if there is anything unusual going on and work from there. Thanks.
