No usable GPU found

I'm trying to help a friend get his 5830 running on the new HCC GPU app but Boinc keeps displaying the error message No usable GPU found. Right above that message it says Couldn't get device IDs for platform#0 error-1.

We've updated the drivers, updated boinc, reseated video card, nothing works. The card shows in the device manager, his display works fine and he can play videos. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Re: No usable GPU found

If your friend installed boinc as a service, I don't think you can use the GPU.

Re: No usable GPU found

Someone reported that their 5450 wasn't working on the GPU units. So it might not be able to process them and just wasn't listed, like the 5450.

Re: No usable GPU found

It was a driver issue. Seems there is no APP SDK support for XP in drivers above version 11.8. I'm guessing my version 12.3 drivers worked because I just updated over the previous 11.8 install.
