I installed BOINC as a service (and "for all users") because it was the only way to run BOINC manager as my standard user. This is on Windows 7 64-bit.
I'd like to run HCC GPU tasks when my computer is idle. Is it possible with my current setup? If not then is there another way to run Boinc as a standard user (although i am now wondering if doing that is as secure as using the limited account/service)? Also, how can I know which tasks are GPU tasks? And btw, since the GT 420 is already on the list of excluded cards, do you think that a GeForce GT 430 will work(if not then I can't run GPU tasks at all)? |

My GT 430 ran just fine. You can not run GPU work if BOINC runs as a service. You would need to uninstall and then re-install but not choose to run it as a service. However, you will need to log into an account for the sciences to run.

Ok, thanks. I re-installed not as service AND I added my user to boinc_admins group. Now I can get GPU tasks.
