24-core server contrubution

Hello everyone,

A company received a Dell PowerEdge R720 server with two E5-2620 Six-core processor and I installed it today.

This server has 2 E5-2620 processors which are six cores with hyper threading for a total of 12 cores, and since there are 2 of them, this means the server has 24 cores currently crunching tasks. This is the most advanced server I currently use to crunch for BOINC projects. Although the server is for a company, I am the one in charge of it, and that is the reason I installed BOINC to it. Lets see if I can get to Sapphire badge more easily now and in future projects!

Of course I have their permissions. I administer their servers. The old one they had was an HP with a Dual-core Xeon (or a single core Xeon with HT) and was way too slow.

I see that you crunch also for GPUGrid. So, tell us, what is (are) the GPU on this new system?

You must have a kind and forward looking employer. Would that there be more like that. Crunch on.

This new system does not have a dedicated graphics card. I crunch GPUGrid on my laptop which has an NVidia GT 650m. We were originally going to configure the server to include a GPU but it would add a lot of money to the server.

You're right! As long as I keep the company happy and the systems are running, it is alright wink .

CFSW is ending, so you may want to get some WUs...if it's not too late.
