I've had two projects have this message beneath them (in the simple view) for a few hours now. I've attempted to pause and un-pause them, and allow them up to 100GB of harddrive space and 100% of my processor, but no change occurs. I was wondering what I could do to resolve this as I'd like to carry on helping, but my dormant laptop is being wasted :P
The two projects are: Say no to Schistosoma - stuck on 35.6% with 5 hours, 13 minutes remaining Help Conquer Cancer - stuck at 99.8% with 9 seconds remaining. |

In simple view, "Say no to Schistosoma" and "Help Conquer Cancer" should be listed under Tasks not Projects.
----------------------------------------Is "World Community Grid" the only BOINC project listed in your view? BOINC can be set (by default, I think) to switch between projects after some set time. If you are attached to another project other than World Community Grid, then BOINC might be working on that project while your WCG tasks are temporarily paused. You might try switching to advanced view (View -> Advanced View...), as then you should be able to see a complete list of all tasks in all projects assigned to your computer. Yes, apologies for incorrect terminology; "Say no to Schistosoma" and "Help Conquer Cancer" are listed as tasks, whilst the only 'project' running is 'World Community Grid' which has 100% of my 'resource share' (I don't know if that means anything, I'm just trying to give as much information as possible).
The two tasks (in advanced view) are listed as 'suspended' under status, despite their report deadlines being for the 23rd and 25th of September. |

That was all it was saying, yeah. It was weird.
I decided to reset my laptop and it seems to be working now; it's 'running' even if the 'time remaining section' is increasing by the second... :| But thank you for your help. |

OK, sometimes a restart will do the trick if BOINC gets stuck somehow. However, you might not need to completely reboot your computer; I usually just restart the BOINC service, which saves some time (especially on my slower computers for which booting takes a while). Plus, this gives BOINC more of an explicit opportunity to save and shut itself down properly, which might or might not happen when rebooting the computer, if BOINC is in a weird state.
Assuming Windows XP (since it's most common and the instructions are basically the same for Vista and Windows 7), as an administrator: 1) Open Services (Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services) 2) Find "BOINC" in the list of services that opens 3) Right click on "BOINC" select "Restart" You need not exit BOINC Manager before doing this, either. It should reconnect automatically once BOINC is restarted. |
