----------------------------------------This is the error message I am seeing in the Messages area of BOINC for WCG. I also see the same error but for a AMD/AT GPU card. I have a Lenovo W520 laptop with an NVidia Quadro 1000M card. I found the site: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/GPU_computing and it confirms my GPU should be compatible. So what gives? My Preferences are telling Boinc to run 100% of the time and GPU running while the computer is in use. I do not see anything that states GPU is off/disabled in the Preferences. I am on Boinc 6.10.58 as mandated by the WCG project. Ideas? Thanks in advance!  |

This message has been questioned over at the developers [for a 7.0.31 client]. It's probably erroneous, either by a bug in the server code or in the client]. Whether your GPU is compatible with the HCC GPU app is open for confirmation at WCG once the tasks get send to your device, which there are none to issue for days now. Berkeley cannot make such statements of "should" I'd think.

Hello ericinboston,
You are aware that we are not running any GPU projects except for an occasional Beta test? Here is a recent thread about strange BOINC messages that seem to believe that GOFAM runs on a GPU: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33773 BOINC messages about GPUs seem to have some bugs. I expect they will all be fixed in another year or two. Lawrence |
