I've issued a challenge that is truly limited to Small Teams. I did this by researching the Team lists for small ACTIVE teams where the Team Captain is still active. Otherwise, the team would never be able to accept. I searched until I had a list of 25 teams. The name of the challenge is: Small Team Invitational 092012.
If you are on a team where the captain is inactive or there is NO captain, you can join one of the teams listed in the Invited Teams list if you wish to participate. Future Small Team Invitationals will include those who participate in the current Invitational and additional teams to get 30 invited teams. Here is the current list. Re: "small team challenge"... really? That's what made me do some research when setting up the Small Team Invitational. I looked for teams with under 100 members using "Find a Team". Then went to each team's stats page to see who the captain is/was because only the captain can accept challenges, correct? A couple teams had NO captain as he/she had retired. Many captains had no activity (no gold bars in the activity charts, and yes I clicked each captain's stats). But eventually I had a list of 25 teams. The above is a statement is from terianne929 in the thread titled "small team challenge... really?" Team Andrax usually has under 25 active crunchers at any time as certain members "come and go" for various reasons. JC (a/k/a Johnny Cool) is a very active Team Caption and he does accept team challenges. Can we still participate in your upcoming challenge? I've given up (for now...) my little one member team. Discovered that researching teams to invite to challenges is a P.I.T.B. (if you get my meaning). While doing that "research" though, I found another one-member team to join. "why not just go back to KWSN or one of the others?" I don't know - may be on a mission to see how many teams I can be a member of...
In the mean time, I've detached from outside projects (SETI, Rosetta, Docking...) so my CPU can be devoted exclusively to WCG projects. My CPU is a dual-core and seems to work better at crunching 2 WUs from WCG than mixings in WUs from other projects: no matter how many are "Ready to start", only 2 will run at a time, even when I change the % of CPU resources. Any way, for now, someone else will have to devise some small team INVITATIONALS. The idea was kinda fun, but finding teams that are active, have participated in challenges in the past, have a team captain that hasn't been inactive (and therefore won't even put the team in the challenge)... looking all that up is work I'm too A.D.D. to do right now. And apparently, WCG's servers don't like you doing all that peaking into other teams stats - after about 10 teams, the server kicks me back to my own stats, kinda like "whatchya doing, mind your own business". My new(est) team is "LetUsChangeThings" and that team captain participates in challenges (is currently in one and one Upcoming), so will probably participate in a TRUE small team challenge. I'm looking forward to being part of one! |
