Hi branjo,
Thank you very much! I just wish the faculty search committees appreciated my unconventional, ambitious strategies half as much as you all. In the past couple years, I've applied for around 150 different Assistant Professor positions at universities throughout the U.S. (and a few in Canada and Europe, and one in Taiwan). But I've had no luck yet. If I can get a faculty position, then I'll be able to seamlessly continue and extend this research for many more years, and I'll be able to bring more personnel and other resources on board, as well. Please wish me luck on this front, too. ;) It's still a tough job market for almost everyone, and that includes me. Best wishes, Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D. |

Hi Everybody,
I updated the status of the GO Fight Against Malaria experiments again. See: http://gofightagainstmalaria.scripps.edu/inde...r-potential-malaria-drugs We've now finished the docking calculations for everything up to and including Experiment 87. I also added some new "eye candy" to this page. Since I'm stuck at home with a bad cold, I plan to create some new molecular images for this page later today. I'll try to post them soon. Thank you very much for your interest and your continued support, Alex L. Perryman PS--that page linked above has already received over 13,000 hits. Thank you very much for staying tuned! |

Based on your work here in WCG, I am sure you will soon find employer which will be worth to have you in its team. Good luck and cheers ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Thanks for the update, Dr P.
----------------------------------------Best wishes for success in your hunt for an academic position, but a little note from pedants' corner: "E.coli OAR is the version of this enzyme from Escherichia coli, a very common bacteria that occasionally causes severe illnesses." "a ... bacteria" = fail! (My PhD supervisor took his red pen to my use of "data", for a similar reason). It might just be a good time for you to get such little things right, so that the new professor doesn't pass bad habits on to the next generations of scientists. ![]() [Edit]: Just read further ... "the electron density data shows" - now where did I put that red pen? [/Edit] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Feb 11, 2013 12:05:16 AM] |

Hi Rickjb,
You're welcome. Good eye! I normally don't make many grammatical errors, but, apparently, I do make a few when I'm sick. You are correct, bacteria is the plural form, while bacterium is the singular form. And I'll need to fix the typo about data, too (i.e., the data show). Thanks for the help, Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D. |

Hello again Rickjb,
After looking at these errors again, I realized that I actually made these mistakes before I was sick. Thus, I have no excuse. My bad. I just fixed all of those errors. Thank you for making me aware of these mistakes. Best wishes, Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D. |
