I have gotten the upload problem described by Ken, but when I try to do an update to cause WUs "ready to be reported" to be reprted, I get the following message:
7/25/2012 7:56:10 AM World Community Grid Message from server: Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance I wouldn't describe this except that this is the second time I have seen this this week. Is there a server problem? |

I did look, but did not find anything related except for Ken's posts above and I cannot modify (read only).
I would prefer to have this thread deleted as I am now able to get uploaded WUs reported. |

Did you check the Website Support forum? That's where the thread(s) is/are.

In the Website Support forum, the thread is "Servers Down ??? meltdown?" and it does describe the message in the topic. The thing is, I could not tell if this message was for all projects (global) or only for the CFSW project. The text in the message (Project is temporarily shut down...) indicates it is only for CFSW.

dkt,
----------------------------------------For someone who has been on WCG for so long, one would have thought that you would know the difference. WCG is a project that BOINC Manager software runs. CFSW is one of the applications that WCG is currently running. Each application, is split down into work units. I know that the stats page on the WCG website might confuse as it calls BOINC applications, projects. It also makes it easier for the programmers, to have as few error messages as possible, so one is likely to get the same error message eg if one validator is down or all of them are down. From the statement that you thought that it was only CSFW, one takes it you are only working on this application within WCG at the moment. Hope this clarifies a few things. This has been an ongoing problem for several days at this point.
----------------------------------------Time for everyone to just remain cool, calm & collected and wait for the tech folks to figure out what the problem is and devise a solution. I'm as frustrated as any on WCG, but it's time to just accept this as an ongoing problem and live with it for a (hopefully) short time. Hi pcwr -
It may seem like I have been on WCG for a long time, but it has only been since January 2011 that I have given it more of the attention it deserves. Yes, I know that WCG is a project and all of what I think of as projects are really sub-projects (each a part of the whole). What I don't know is what the reference to a "Project" in the message is really referring to, although when I think about how BOINC is used, you specify which project to which you want a connection. All of the sub-projects you want to run you specify with the My Projects tag which says "Please check, or uncheck, the boxes below to select which projects you'd like your computer to work on." This is followed by more text and "Available Projects" which may be chosen. Ok, so that's where I'm coming from, but let's not drag this out any further. dkt |

As per knreed post, to counter the recurring saturation of the server switches, the systems are periodically paused till situation stabilized. In those periods there will be messages of no work availability [actually upload/download is stopped!]
