Unfortunately, there is no way to do this 'gracefully'. Instead your client will attempt 10-15 times to connect to the old scheduler before contacting the main website page in order to find out the current location of the scheduler. Once that happens, it will resume communicating properly. This will all happen automatically if left alone. I had my Win32-machine eleven(11) connect-attempts to the old scheduler before I saw the "Master file download succeeded" BOINC (v7.0.25) message. The succeeding attempt (the 12th) no longer had the "Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found" error-message. It works... -- snip from knreed [Jul 20, 2012 8:11:28 PM] post ![]() ; ; edit3_2012.07.20Fr.2130.utc ; > corrected edit time-stamps ; edit2_2012.07.20Fr.2125.utc ; > Exactly same (count, and process) for my Ubu64-machine. When deciding on the edit route, simple replace the grid part at start with scheduler. Just did that after stopping BOINC service and after the W7 box immediately connected properly. The Linux box did it by itself, sooner... 2 tries. |

I edited the message to eliminate the weird formatting of the url - should be more cut/paste friendly now.

Interesting, I've got one machine that still can't communicate with the scheduler/servers. My XP machine works fine and is going to the new scheduler. Problem is on Vista Business machine running BOINC 6.10.58. Have forced repeated updates and pull current scheduler list. Confirmed new scheduler url in clientstate.xml file. Requests fail with these messages:
----------------------------------------7/20/2012 5:40:56 PM World Community Grid update requested by user 7/20/2012 5:41:20 PM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 7/20/2012 5:41:20 PM World Community Grid Not reporting or requesting tasks 7/20/2012 5:41:53 PM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 7/20/2012 5:41:53 PM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Transferred a partial file 7/20/2012 5:41:56 PM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. EDIT: Wierd, after doing nothing and waiting a while, now it's working fine. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Jul 20, 2012 10:38:30 PM] |

----------------------------------------Any idea how much longer this problem is going on for? Luckily my faster PCs have 2 days worth of WUs. Forced my slow PC to fetch master download file. All my PCs now have work, for the time being. Patrick ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by pcwr at Jul 21, 2012 8:46:08 AM] |
