Re: Old validated WUs

Hello Brown Pelican,
There are multiple short threads on this. Nobody knows why the last page of Results Status often contains Valid results that are several months old. Mine does. I suppose the staff are working on more important bugs. Another known problem is that some Valid results disappear in less than a day.

Re: Old validated WUs

For a substantial part either a result in the task distribution has not come back [click on WU detail for quorum] or it's part of a batch that has a MIA, maybe a few frozen results taken out of circulation [the 5 or 7 copies returned errors lock].

By and large, think we're settled on 24 hours or so for valids to stay. The exception on these appear to be the stragglers... if they come in really late and they are completing a batch that can be migrated to the master database, then they'll go real fast, even within 12 hours. Surely the techs could give a more general indication for the 'concerned'.

FTM, I've got 45 pages of results that were processed [not "in progress"]. It was 58 for just the last run of DDDT2 [now 31], so surely they're working to clear off complete sets. There's greater interest on that for the sciences that have high result production and take more than a little storage. 10 days of FAAH or HPF2 is 700,000-800,000 results where a DDDT run even if stretched out over a month requires 250,000... the more ''live'' results the scheduler has to administer, the more performance is impacted [not telling anything new for many... just in case more readers show interest]

Re: Old validated WUs

When different workunits are share input files, then they are deleted in a different way than normal workunits. All the workunits that share the common input are left in the database until all workunits that share the input files have completed successfully. Sometimes there will be a few workunits in that group that error out and we need to discuss with the researchers what to do with them. In those cases, the workunits will not be cleared from the database until we have agreement with the researchers about what to do. This can cause some workunits to stay in the database for a very long time.

Re: Old validated WUs

It is weird seeing a work unit from APRIL that doesn't show up on a one-page list (I only have one computer crunching), but when the list grows to two-pages (yay) there it is. The one in question for me:
Project Name: Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2
Created: 04/16/2012 15:04:02
Name: qd521_00023
Minimum Quorum: 15
Replication: 19
My WU was #7 (...-06) and validated:
qd521_ 00023_ 6-- 640 Valid 4/18/12 06:56:07 4/20/12 09:50:13 10.62 197.9 / 230.3

Just weird seeing it again on July 23rd....
