I checked one of my systems (an HP desktop tower) is terminating 34 WUs with error.
----------------------------------------GFAM_ xINHIBOX1_ PfSub1_ 0023843_ 0214_ 1-- DAVETHOMPSON-PC Error 6/8/12 03:39:41 6/9/12 02:54:45 0.00 102.6 / 0.0 In addition, I checked the message log and it said no work is available for GFAM. I suspect this may be due to the number of errors. The claimed BOINC credit is fairly high for all but one. I have changed My Projects to include Computing for Sustainable Water and there are no problems with those. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 9, 2012 3:40:18 AM] |

dkt, as the GFAM (and DSFL/SN2S) applications have recently been upgraded, your AV software may be trapping them. Obviously, it's impossible to tell with no error message log's to go by, but I'd certainly have a look there...
----------------------------------------i.e., I've had a few bomb out on me, with the following messages; Result Log Result Name: GFAM_ xINHIBOX1_ PfSub1_ 0023756_ 0183_ 0-- <core_client_version>6.10.58</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> - exit code -1073741790 (0xc0000022) </message> ]]> After checking and resetting my AV software, I've now successfully downloaded some more WU's and they're now awaiting being released from PV jail. ![]() |

I just finished looking at the detail in the error log for one WU and it contains the following:
Result Log Result Name: GFAM_ xINHIBOX1_ PfSub1_ 0023843_ 0214_ 1-- <core_client_version>6.10.18</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> CreateProcess() failed - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (0x20) </message> ]]> I don't know if this might have been caused by updates to BOINC or if the file might be being simultaneously by other WUs. This is the first time I have seen thid, but I just did check the work on computer where the error occurred and I have received 22 WUs for GFAM. I have 164 WUs for CFSW for that one computer. I have many more for the other three computers. I have not had any AV problems that I am aware of while running any of the WUs. |

Thank you gb009761 for your reply. It is time to go to bed, so I will check tomorrow to see if there is any additional feedback to say what this problem might be.

If after boot the errors continue, it's not improbable this too is security software caused... something as the Result log says is holding on to a file and BOINC being obstructed to do same [tasks dont share files, they have their own slot with copies of all required parts].
The message is not new to the forums, reported 3x previously (1 is bogus to be sure): http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=0&sort=1&rows=20 Version 6.10.18... hmmm did we not mention this short lived BOINC release before? One time reported, the member had an outlived version, changed release but never came back to confirm. --//-- P.S., the CreateProcess() failed had 63 hits: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=0&sort=1&rows=20 I'd put my cards on security software blocking. |

Thanks SekeRob. I have not had any additional errors and it is 8:21 AM PST. I will check again this afternoon.
What level of BOINC do you recommend? I have been using 6.10.58 on my laptop for quite some time with no problems. |

<core_client_version>6.10.18</core_client_version> I have been using 6.10.58 on my laptop for quite some time with no problems. Something isn't right. This (first quote)is what SekeRob was talking about (ver. 6.10.18). ![]() |

Would suggest if you do run an antivirus software, to exempt boinc in the preferences. No harm as boinc is safe. Never had an issue since I've been crunching here. I wouldn't be using boinc if it wasn't.

I have been checking my systems and have seen no further errors related to workunits running on any of my systems including the one where the errors occurred. I will continue to monitor to make sure there is no problem. In addition, I will update BOINC on the desktop tower to 6.10.58, at a minimum, if I encounter any problems; I do not want to do an update if I am not having any problems.
Thanks all. |
