Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

Nothing in the transfer tab, yet you have a stuck HFCC unit... then what is the status column saying *exactly* in the Tasks tab ? "Uploading" (yes you wrote it was stuck in uploading) or "Ready to Report" or something else?

Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

If it is stuck on uploading, you might try re-enabling your internet connection, similar to the "repair" option for Win XP.

Cheers

Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

I forgot to mention I am running Ubuntu 12.04, boinc 7.0.24
the progress says 100% and the status says uploading, I have tried rebooting the computer several times didn't do any good

I also have tried aborting the WU, but it still says uploading

Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

Your log revealed the details OS/Version detail through the kernel... 3.20 is 12.04 ;D

Would not stick too long with 7.0.24... it's broken as I found [and so they say over at Berkeley, who gasped at why 12.04 came with 7.0.24, but that was because Canonical had trouble compiling 7.0.25/27 it said. Whilst, I got 7.0.27 via ppa:pkg-boinc/Testing https://launchpad.net/~pkg-boinc/+archive/testing and it runs pretty well on both my 12.04 and 11.10 hosts, though 7.0.28 is coming by the official Ubuntu repository maintainers, but don't know when.

2 places to abort... both in transfer and in tasks. In past had to do the Tasks tab abort to make one sticky go away.

As for Sgt.Joe's tip, maybe he meant to set the client off-line for a little and then on-line again, then to "Retry Now", but what you're indicating is, that the finalization is somehow not completing [the packaging for transmission).

Last ditch try [if you still can], Select the task and *Suspend* it, then resume it. Maybe it will flip state to "waiting to run"

edit: Kernel update 3.20.0-25 is out btw. Test running it on the thumb-drive.

That is another option to try. However, once in a great while I have had Linux "lose" its wired connectivity for no apparent reason. At this point I have re-enabled the wired connectivity by clicking on the little icon which denotes the wired connectivity on the operating system level, not the BOINC level. In other words the OS gets stuck, not BOINC. Hope this is a better explanation.

Cheers

Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

Ah, try sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off where wlan0 could be wlan1 or wlan2 depending on how many were ever installed to get it working. A quick try sudo iwconfig wlan0 will confirm what the WIFI connect label is and the power management state, default on.

This switches off the WIFI power management i.e. preventing it from going to sleep... and eventually, on my side, causing tasks to crash.

I removed boinc and installed it again, from the software center. now when I open up boinc their is no project or tasks, so I go to tools and click on add prodject or account manager, and I get nothing to happen,

what should I do?

Re: hfcc WU stuck uploading

Is the BOINC Manager connected to a running client? Right bottom the status is shown. If not connected, then BM cannot do anything, but if the core client is running you can go to terminal, and navigate to where the boinc software is located and do a

sudo boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org accountkey

where the accountkey is shown on your My Grid > My Profile near the lower section. The boinc software, not the science apps, are located on my ubuntu in /usr/bin

before that you can confirm with

top -u boinc

if the core client daemon has actually loaded. There would be 1 entry, not using any CPU time.
