Hi,
----------------------------------------is that only on my systems or is there a little in the My Grid view? Clicking on of the "Points" hyperlinks opens a JavaScript pop-up window which shows all website elements (WCG banner etc), and you have to scroll Cheers. Hello herna,
My Grid - Points Generated opens a window onto a text page that has scroll bars vertically and horizontally. You can drag the edges of the text window to make it larger so that you do not have to scroll so much to read all the text. Is that what you are asking about? I am uncertain. Lawrence |

Hello Lawrence,
Sorry, i meant "you have to scroll horizontally" above. compare the Points pop-ups with those links: -Badges Returned: a window with a layout similar to Points (a normal web page with WCG top banner, being a sub-item of the Help page). This one opens as a new tab in full size. -UTC: a little pop-up windows which fits in size, has no WCG banners and no scroll bars. Looking at the JavaScript command, this is not an element of the Help page. The points pop-up window is (on my system at least?) too narrow, so i have to resize this window or use the horizontal scroll bar to read the text. I would suggest to make the Points links, referring to the Help site, open a new tab just like the Badges Returned (also Help page). Or to make that pop-up window fit in size. Cheers |

My firefox is set to force Pop-Ups to open into a new tab, next to the one from which it is launched. When closed, the view reverts to the last opened tab.
Why the UTC info sheet was not placed or moved to Help...? Don't know. --//-- |

Hello herna,
Thanks for your explanation. You make your idea very clear. The website needs intelligent criticism from people who can look at it with fresh eyes. I am too familiar with it to notice ugly kludges. Could you please look over My Grid and make a note of all the problems you find? Then please post them in Suggestions, together with explanations like the one you made above, so that the grid staff can consider them. Thanks, Lawrence |

herna,
As lawrence and Sekerob mention, we like having fresh eyes look at things and point out issues. I have taken your suggestion and made the link for points Help and made it show up like the Badges within a new tab instead of a popup window. This will go out with our next website update. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Hi there,
thanks for your kind responses. I think the website is actually fine as it is - the pop-up size was a really small issue after all. :-) No other issues to point out from my side right now. Maybe two things of my personal wish list: - Being able to make changes in the profiles during the stats update. (Or maybe even better, if some future version of boinc will be able to change the computer's project profile from inside the client?) - And just a blurry idea of mine: Having something like a "user grid profile". I use the member statistic search page http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewMemberInfo.do?userName=herna when linking from other personal web profiles. A little extended profile might perhaps include some personal info text field (if wanted by the user), like hardware used / what i'm here for / what i'm crunching right now / show the user's team / or maybe some little data log (badge acquisition dates etc) / graphs /et cetera. This might be helpful to promote WCG a little more. Thank you and best wishes. |
