I've recently instaled BOINC 6.10.58 on 2 comps with Windows 7 SP 1. When I want to close system or logout icons on my deskop disapears, but I've got desktop image stil, mouse is active, but computer doesn't turn off. I was waiting few minutes, but it's frozen in this state. Alt+F4 or Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing. I cant even run Task Manager. I'm not completly sure it's BOINC fault, but it's last instaled program on those machines and when I turn off Boinc first, Windows closes normally. Problem is on both of this computers. Both windows are with lates actualization, language version - polish. I coudn't find anything on forum. Is it known problem?

Installed as user application or with Protected Application Execution (PAE), meaning BOINC loads as service even before anyone logs in and will remain running when users log out?

Too advanced question for me :) How can I recognize this?
Additional info: I've created accout on this computer and I'm only user. Not administrator. I think boinc loads with other programs, after I log in. I can't tell what's goigng on after logout, cause I can't log out normally :) Both W7 64-bit Proffesional. |

In Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys), choose the button left bottom to see all processes, then switch to the services tab. if BOINC is not listed, BOINC was installed at user level. Also if u visit the user configuration view, there wont be a boinc_project and boinc_master user when BOINC is not installed as service.
At any rate, I have no reason why your log out or system shutdowns hang. If they do, then usually W7 pops up a window asking to force the close of one or the other application. Hanging on shutdown can cause damage to BOINC tasks that were running, so if not sure, shut down BOINC first. The service and user client install can both be stopped via the BOINC Manager. --//-- |
