Hello :)
I just wondered what the storage i offer to boinc is used for :) (I am a computer noob) Because, if its any good, i can offer more than the 100gb that is the largest option in the boinc manager. If that help the science projects we can choose :) |

Hello :) I just wondered what the storage i offer to boinc is used for :) (I am a computer noob) Because, if its any good, i can offer more than the 100gb that is the largest option in the boinc manager. If that help the science projects we can choose :) I think what you are asking is about your local pc not the Servers storage and if so it is fairly meaningless, as long as you give Boinc up to about 10gig it should be plenty for most projects. The storage is for units on your pc that are either waiting to be processed, actively being processed or waiting for your pc to send the completed units back so it can get some more units. Of course the larger the cache you have the more storage space you will need to give Boinc. Since there are TONS of us users the Server cannot possible be ready and waiting for each one of us any time we want, so our pc's cache the units locally and then only contact the Server when it needs new work or the finished work you have is getting close to the deadline. Then your pc will automatically contact the projects servers and send and receive work as needed. WELCOME to the World of Boinc!!! You have chosen a WONDERFUL project to start with, it has an active bunch of Admins that can and do help all the time. Also us just plain old users, like yourself, will help as we can. ![]() ![]() |
