NVIDIA Cards Returning Valid Results: GeForce GTS 450 NVIDIA Cards Having Errors: GeForce GTS 450 Wouldn't you know it, I have an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450. Will it work? Most likely Yes. There are a lot of reasons a wu can fail other than it being an unsuppoted card. Seeing that the card returned a good wu is a good sign. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Mar 16, 2012 7:10:25 AM] |

I think it will mostly depend on the Driver Version also to some extent the operating system and power supply.

I had 2 results returned from this round on a machine that has an HD 4350 card. If that card is not supported and this round was for GPU only how did it return valid results?
----------------------------------------EDIT: A further checking of the logs show that of the 7 betas I received in this latest round 5 were for the CPU.

I would like a little clarification please....in order to get the gpu Beta units I need to go into my projects and check BOTH get the gpu units if available AND to get HCC units too, correct? Just checking to get gpu units is NOT sufficient, correct?

We will be starting a second round of beta testing in a few minutes. The app is called 'beta3' or 'Beta Testing - Help Conquer Cancer' (since we didn't mention that earlier). This round of testing will only be for GPU devices (on Windows) so the set of work will be available for longer before running out. Just got one on my CPU. You might want to check your settings Knreed. Darn - you are correct. That's what I get for wanting to start it before bedtime. I did make the change to the settings but I didn't restart the feeder to pick up the new settings. In fact this went out to both GPU and CPU. I will start another round in a little bit with GPU only. |

Just checking to get gpu units is NOT sufficient, correct? No, in order to get Beta WUs you need to do two things: 1. On the "Beta Testing" panel you need to have the "Participate in Beta Testing" checked for the profile(s) you have assigned to the device(s). 2. On the "Device Manager->Device Profiles" panel you need to have "If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above." checked in the profile you have assigned to the device(s). Note, the Device Profile verbage is misleading for Beta work. You do not need to have the HCC project selected in the profile to get Betas, just the two things above.

The GPU only test will be great and my GPU's are patiently waiting for new work.![]() ![]() |

So this here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32806#368691
For anyone who's interested, cl_khr_local_int32_base_atomics requires compute capability 1.2 or higher.
no longer applies and Compute Capability 1.1 is the correct version? Let me clarify my previous response. We started testing broadly in order to make sure that we didn't incorrectly exclude anyone. We have now confirmed that 1.1 fails. You must have 1.2 or higher. When I responded earlier, I misidentified a card that had a 1.1 designation (i.e. I misread GTX 570 and looked at the Quadro FX 570). Cards with Compute Capability 1.1 are consistently failing and will not be sent any work going forward. |

I think it will mostly depend on the Driver Version also to some extent the operating system and power supply. I agree it would be nice if we could get a list going of cards returning valid results what they are running for drivers, OS, and boinc client. It would also be nice to maybe have a list for people with invalids to help figure out what drivers, OS and boinc client may need to be avoided. ![]() |
