Hello, I am running BOINC 6.12.34 (Windows) on two clients.
On client #1, I am running most of the WCG projects using my default profile, I see tasks from each of the projects and everything seems to be running fine. On client #2, I have a custom device profile where I have specified only DSFL, HFCC and HCC to run. I see DSFL and HFCC work units in the Tasks tab but I have never seen HCC. I have previously tried to limit this profile to HCC only to see if I can force something to reset but that doesn't seem to work. Playing around with the profile settings doesn't seem to help. Client #1 has been getting HCC work units no problem. I have been looking through various directories trying to find a config file or something to debug but don't really know what I'm looking for. There are *hcc* files in my C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org but no HCC work units. Any help would be appreciated. |

Odd to say the least as DSFL+HFCC are on low priority, whereas HCC is on normal priority i.e. there would have to come way more HCC than the other two.
----------------------------------------There's one other difference that may count. HCC has a 7 day deadline and HFCC/DSFL has 10 days. If you run a very high cache [Connect about every xx days], the client is telling the server that it wont be returning this work in time, so it wont send them. When you set to HCC exclusive you'd have some kind of message in the log to say something to that effect. There's really not much to debug... just set HCC only again and let the client run [don't change anything else] and eventually the event log will spit a warning message out why the servers ain't accommodating. Post again when that happens. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 7, 2012 11:03:43 PM] |

Thanks Rob, you diagnosed my problem exactly. Looks like I had configured the 'Connect XX days' set to 10 and after I reduced that value I started getting the HCC work units.
Now I have the 'Connect XX days' set to 0 and the 'Cache XX days' set to 10. When I originally install BOINC on this machine, the caching option did not exist and the only way to control the number of work units you got was to adjust the 'Connect XX days' value. When the caching option was introduced, I never changed my original configuration values. Thanks again! |

I suggest that you lower your cache to less than 7 days. There's no need to have 10 days of cache.
