That's a copy of the RS page, but what I asked is the Result "Log".
----------------------------------------"If the Result Status page list the CEP2 results as ended in "Error" (which is what counts), then please click those status links and post the Result Logs." If all the same, just post 1, buy clicking on the "Error", which brings up the Result Log. --//-- edit: And them failing right at the start suggests something blocking the setup completing... job #0. "If the Result Status page list the CEP2 results as ended in "Error" (which is what counts), then please click those status links and post the Result Logs." I will do this, if more WUs fail. So i had to configure at least 2 GB when i install the new Xubuntu Precise? Or what size is recommended ![]()

Please go to My Grid > Result Status and look up a CEP2 result that went Error. Then click on the Error link. That brings up the Result Log. CEP2 is a very demanding project. Visit the System Requirements page to get the sizes to expect, per job. My Ubuntus have a swap of 3GB in their private partition. --//-- |

It's either a space or a permission issue. Would not blame AV type software given it's Linux.
Let me ask a question: Is that running multiple CEP2 concurrently? The timestamps suggest serial failing, but for that to be possible there must be multiple CEP2 on the device, when default is 1. That is, unless your cleint is very fast at reporting and fetching new work. Limit running 1 at a time if the problem persists after your partition expand and let us know. --//-- |

Thanks again for your fast and helpfull reponse, SekeRob.

Your description sounded familiar and would have had a fix, but the hibernation method failing kind of closed that solution. Still, if you post the startup message log of the client (first 30 lines), we may see something that would allow some specific advise. Particular the OS and client version is of interest and how installed which the startup log will tell and more of interest. --//-- Here you go: Mi 09 Mai 2012 10:15:00 CEST | | Starting BOINC client version 6.12.33 for i686-pc-linux-gnu |

16 lines is not 30 ;-), but anyhow, had you said Linux in your original post, then stopping the daemon with "sudo service boinc-client stop" in terminal would have been part of my response. Did that routinely. Whilst shutting down from GUI, hit the Esc key to see all the close down messages and if any signal 11-15 are in there. BOINC simply does not like being starved of cycles for longer than 29 seconds and that can occur. Try the command, then wait for the confirm of 2 lines prior to booting if badness happens still.
My latest Linux clean install, now with kernel 3.0.0.19 is well behaved, but must say that I got so frustrated with CEP2 on Linux (poor efficiency, particular when using system), that it's now only run when booted in W7-64, which gives me 99% efficiency (1% gap between wallclock and CPU time recorded). --//-- P.S. Seems Canonical's Shuttleworth decided to hide the Hibernate functionality in Ubuntu 12.04 (did find out how to hack it back in on my 12.04 laptop before reading that). He thought too many had problems with it, hardware not coping (well his software is to blame for that I think). Startup messages: Cramped for disk space. My default profile for disk usage is:Mo 07 Mai 2012 19:53:46 CEST | | Disk: 11.00 GB total, 4.23 GB free [...] Mo 07 Mai 2012 19:53:46 CEST | | max disk usage: 0.00GB Disk Usage Use no more than: 50 Gigabytes of disk space on BOINC data drives that typically have several hundred gig free.Leave at least: 0.5 Gigabytes of disk space free Use no more than: 50 % of total disk space Write to disk at most every: 60 seconds Beyond your lack of physical free disk space, with most other software the indication that BOINC should use at most 0.00GB of disk space would ordinarily be a red flag to me, but BOINC uses "0" to indicate unlimited quite often so I can't call that one way or the other (particularly as I'm not running under a 'nix). I don't know if BOINC is seeing "I'm not allowed to use any disk space!", or "I'm allowed to use all of the disk space, such as it is!". So I'd post the pertinent lines from your device profile for sekerob's more qualified perusal. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 10, 2012 10:00:22 AM] |
