No work coming in - other sites OK

People,

I have setup BOINC again after a few years of not being involved - I have three other projects running hot but nothing at all from WCG for weeks. As far as I can tell my profile and config is OK - why is nothing coming in?

I have a Fedora 16 x86_64 machine and RPM install of BOINC.

Thanks,

Phil.

Linux 64 bit... maybe because your client is incorrectly identifying itself or has missing 32 bit libraries or the security certificate is absent or the system date is wrong... without a copy of the message log it's a finger in the air guess, so please post them, filtering on the messages for WCG and system general [there's a button for that in BOINC Manager, message/event log view]

Please post detail , and we'll look in.

The only line that appears for WCG is:

Tue Feb 28 03:37:09 2012 | World Community Grid | URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1903395; resource share 100

Thanks,

Phil.

Re: No work coming in - other sites OK

Let's try this: Go to the project tab of BOINC Manager, select the WCG line and hit Update at left. After, post all message log entries.

Looks like it is a version problem - but why does it work for other projects?:

Re: No work coming in - other sites OK

OK, so does look like the 32 bit library issue. The probable explanation is, that your other projects distribute 64 bit sciences. Try to select Clean Water only as that then should work without the 32 bit libs [it has a 64 bit version], then report back.

edit: Strike that... see this FAQ as how to fix: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28642

Re: No work coming in - other sites OK

After following the instructions (the dir for cc_config.xml is not correct/clear for a Fedora RPM install), the WCG project finally started connecting.

Thanks!

Phil.

Re: No work coming in - other sites OK [RESOLVED]

Excellent, another one we managed to get back to crunching today. plz as is customoary at WCG, when a problem is overcome, edit in [RESOLVED] in the opening post title as I did for this post.

Happy crunching

P.S. Yes, the file locations per me earlier comments are not uniform across Linux distros... sadly so. Tell us what they are for yours to confirm and it's on the record for the next Fedoran. Thx

Re: No work coming in - other sites OK [RESOLVED]

For Fedora 16 x86_64, if boinc_client is being run from systemd, then cc_config.xml needs to go in:

/var/lib/boinc/

Hope this helps others!

Regards,

Phil.
