I took a chance and suggested that the computer talk show host Kim Kommando put information about joining WorldCommunityGrid.org in her newsletter. A few weeks later her Download of the Day Newsletter included a story about it on February 22, 2012. We should look for other opportunities to publicize the crunching effort to cure disease and find other solutions. I hope this leads to a lot more people joining and crunching.

That was a very good initiative and one to inspire us all.
The reason your picture didn't show is that the tags [ img ] were in upper case [ IMG ] - photobucket does that; I don't know why, but they have to be changed into lower case letters. ![]() |

It was driving me crazy. I couldn't figure out why my image would not work.
Thanks I hope a lot of computer geeks join. I just can't fathom why more don't. |

I hope a lot of computer geeks join. I just can't fathom why more don't. Me too. Amazing the number of times I've told someone about this - this incredible project where you can actually HELP CURE CANCER and other diseases just by installing a bit of software - and people go "oh, right", and never think about it again. Sometimes I think it's just me who finds it exciting - then I come to the forums / stats and remember that there are actually quite a lot of us! But I do wonder how some people (most people) can fail to be interested in helping. ![]() (previously known as 'proxima' on SETI, UD, distributed folding, FaD, and Rosetta) |

Nevada Bob [Feb 22, 2012 9:03:31 PM] post GeraldRube [Mar 6, 2012 9:19:25 PM] post When did WCG first had its Linux-based WU? Was it as early as 2004? I guess Linux was not as popular then (year 2004) as Linux is now (year 2012) -- and so these may help explain the omission of Linux at that time (year 2004). But if the time of publication of the Kim Kommando newsletter was on February 22, 2012 and referencing current material at WCG's download page, I can't see how Linux may have been omitted quite by accident; more so if Linux was omitted on purpose. ; |
