Re: Latest research on Malaria

Hello helen and david m,
This is a very interesting article. I do think that most of us interested in fighting malaria consider it a more serious disease than the journalist thinks that people do, but he may be correct about the opinions of most people.

We have a news thread about Malaria at https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32097 titled "Interesting News Stories about Malaria, and the Fight Against It!". Please copy your post to this thread so that everybody who follows the malaria news thread can read this post.

Re: Latest research on Malaria

Why are there no references to any Malaria projects at Scripps?

Re: Latest research on Malaria

Well,

as far as I know, GFAM doesn't have a website yet.
It's still on the works. When that website is created, I'm sure it will be at Scripps

Hope so. Just curious since the problem seems to be on the rise and no news isn't always good. sick

I remember reading "Hunger Fighters" and "Microbe Hunters" by Paul DeKruif. I was spellbound. nerd

Hello hillhopper,

Thank you for the reminder. We have now posted a couple press releases about the project on the "News" section of the Olson lab's homepage. Go to http://mgl.scripps.edu and click on the link in the News box in the upper-left corner. We will add something to the Projects page soon, as well.

I'm currently creating a TSRI website devoted entirely to this GO Fight Against Malaria project, but it's not quite ready to be publicized. When it's finished (hopefully next week), I'll post the link to this Forum, and we'll link the new site to the Olson lab's homepage and to the http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu site.

Thank you very much for your interest and your support,
Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D.

Hi Falconet,

You are completely correct. I just finished creating a new TSRI website for the Global Online Fight Against Malaria project, see:

http://gofightagainstmalaria.scripps.edu/

This site contains a page, similar to the "Status" page of the FightAIDS@Home site, which contains a detailed description of all the GO FAM experiments, the particular batch numbers they involve, and their % completion status.

Thank you all very much for your interest and your support!

Best wishes,
Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D.

Re: Latest research on Malaria

Very nice site and description of project smile

I was waiting for longer description like on this site. Can I use it for translation to the Czech? I want to create article about this project, if I can...

Best regards

Hello petnek,

Thank you very much. I put a lot of effort into the GO FAM site, and I'm glad that you all appreciate it.

Yes, you may use the text on the site:
http://gofightagainstmalaria.scripps.edu/

to make a translation into Czech. After you translate it, post the link on this GO FAM Forum, and we might link your translation to the GO FAM site above.

Thank you for your interest and your support,
Alex L. Perryman, Ph.D.

PS--if other people want to translate the text on the GO FAM site into other languages, you have my permission. Just please let us know and post the link to the translation, so that we can help spread the word to people who don't speak English.
