I got some jobs from batch 2175 that should take more to 24 hours to complete on a Core2 Quad!
Has someone else seen such long jobs? |

Seen them up to 12:01 "CPU" hours all through the project... 12:01 the final cut-off before the remaining positions are put in the next task [child etc]. What I'm saying is, the projections are just not accurate, unless you're looking at "Elapsed" time in BOINC manager and not at the CPU time in the task properties. At 50% CPU time setting you could get 24 hours on the wallclock. The Time To Complete column prints the projected "Elapsed" time, not the CPU time.

And now I'm really wondering if I can still gather the 70 CPU days needed to get to the 8 years...
If I don't try, I won't know. The snail is on the backburner now. And will hopefully taste wonderful with some garlic butter later. ![]() |

... Ok, is this another 18 days of work at the former run rate? Or More? Or Less? Is this a 1-time only thing, a re-run for cause, or might we see buckets of WU's occasionally released as part of a run down phase?
Just trying to plan out if there is a way I can get to the next badge ;-) |

At the end of any project the techs run a clean up on any work that got missed, errored, or whatever throughout the run. Unless they post specifics, there isn't a way of knowing how much there will be.
----------------------------------------My advice if you're after the next badge level is just to crunch. If you hesitate, you may not make it. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Just trying to plan out if there is a way I can get to the next badge ;-) The 18 days of work mentioned in my original post has already been sent out and returned. At this point we are identifying any work units that are still missing for various reasons and sending those out. There are a good number of these work units already identified which are currently being sent out. Over the next several weeks, we'll be working to identify any additional ones still remaining and sending those out as well. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to know how many of these work units there are. Seippel |

WU's are coming in at a rather steady stream, or at least that is my impression. It looks like I will get my 8-year target after all with a temporary increased cache. Nice.
![]() Sorry to the wingmen and techs: I really want to obtain the 8-year target, so cache is temporary 5,10 days instead of the usual 0,10 days. As soon as I'm certain of reaching the target, cache goes down again and return speed up. |

Yup, lots of work units still going. It's into the children of some of the first mop-ups.
----------------------------------------On another note, the number of crunchers on this project must have dropped. I have never seen so many work units where I'm my own wingman. It's spooky even. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |
