For years I have been fighting cancer for everyone. Next week, I will be doing it for myself. If you see my numbers going down it will be because I will not have access to my machines. So if something appends they will have to wait until I get back on my feet. I donât intend to rejoin our friend Dave Bell. I am a little worried because I asked about my surgeon to find if he was good. Twice I was told he has lots of experience! Not much of a referral. It like being told he is the best in the village. I will come back in a week or so. Rej Good Morning MOT Rej. The very best to you. You know we will all be thinking of you. I think that your attitiude will serve you well. I undersand that like most everything else, the way that you look at it has a lot do with how your body copes. I wish there were some way we could help. Oh and I agree with the others. Getting someone that deals with the kind of problem you have is very important. The guy that replaced my knee replaces something over 5 per week. As far as I can tell, he did a teriffic job on mine and now I am home and doing much better. All of you guys advice has been spot on. Yes, I am dealing with range of motion limits now. I am at 7 and 87 and the goal is 0 120. That is the most painful part. I have the nifty cold water machine the leg flexer ect. They make life a lot more livable. I am very confident in an excellent outcome at this point. Congratulations Gerald, Judson, Daeloan and Dubhain!!!! Everyone have a great day and send your well wishes to Rej. One of your friends in Texas ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 3 times, last edit by RT at Feb 11, 2012 3:53:48 PM] |

Thank you for the support.
----------------------------------------I am not too worried for the operation itself but more for the result. Here you don’t choose your medical personnel, you get what you get. It can take 5 years to find a family doctor and you can’t see a specialist if you are not recommended by a general practitioner. And it is just getting worst. In our hospitals it is the norm the find hundreds of patients in corridors just waiting to get a room. I am supposed to be hospitalised between 4 to 7 days. I’ll do my best to be out of there in 4. Less time in there, less chances of catching something worst then your original problem. Anyway I will report Monday morning at 6:30h. I am the second in line for the surgery. At least someone will have warmed up the operating table. ![]() Regards Rej ![]() THE ).( IS NAKED! Do you know what your PC is doing ??? |

Rej good luck! Make sure after surgery you drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet! I am sure I will raise a storm but frankly do not care, take 30,000 IU's of Vitamin D3 a day for next couple months! Literature in medicine, I am sure all who criticize me are well read in such!!!! Supports that many cancers are more aggressive in those with low levels of this vitamin! RT glad your back.

Great advice KeithHenry! Often doctors do not want to speak badly of a colleague especially if a friend. Also frequently doctors do not see first hand like nurses do that person operate or perform the surgery or procedure. Usually more times the doctor performs the procedure the better.

At least someone will have warmed up the operating table. ![]() Regards Rej Yes, picking up an infection while in hospital happens too often. Be sure you have plenty of hand sanitizer with you. Use it right after you finish eating and put the tray away. Avoid touching your face while eating. Usually, doctors and nurses will "glove up" when they come in to check on you. Anyone that is going to be touching you needs to either wash their hands in your room or use some hand sanitizer. This is especially important if they are going to be checking on any incisions you have. Watch out for little things like whether you have a blood pressure cuff that stays in your room or that the nurses take from room to room. In the latter case, make them wipe the cuff down with alcohol wipes before using it on you. If at all possible, try to have someone with you to watch out for this sort of stuff when you're out/asleep and particularly right after you've been moved from recovery to a room. You may well still be affected by the anesthetics at that time and not be fully coherent or feel like thinking/speaking/looking out for yourself. Yea, it sounds like paranoia but the simple act of hand washing has been shown to result in HUGE reductions in post-operative infection rates. Also, I doubt the OR table will be warm at all. Whenever I've been in an OR and conscious, it's been as cold as a big meat locker. |
