Never was much into Twinkies, as food at least. They do make a nice little science project in petrification. Just take one left sealed in its wrapper and place on top of a low heat source. The old CRT-style displays work very well. Perhaps today's GPU boards could be a good substitute for the CRT. Over time, you will notice the Twinkie becoming harder and harder without any signs of spoilage, mold or such. Left long enough, the Twinkie will completely petrify and you will have your very own American food industry fossil.

WOO-HOO!! Looks like I should hit sapphire on DDDT2 in a couple of more days. That's going to simplify things a good bit and leave just DSFL and GFAM for me to focus on for now. Anyone else looking at some big personal goals/milestones coming up???

Way to go KeithHenry! A friend told me recently, speaking of petrified twinkles, that American corpses require a third les embalming fluid as 50 years ago ! Perhaps due to all the preservatives we consum here. Happy thoughts!!!!

Thanks Gerald. Just for grins (well more precisely to get a hint of what GPU stuff is like prior to the HCC GPU project kicks off), I went over to GPUGRID.net and started running one of their work units on one of my machines. The machine has a NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS graphics card. I noticed that this card was not on the "Highly Recommended" list. I also noticed that it was not on the "Recommended" list. So... I thought I would give it a shot anyway. I downloaded all the appropriate drivers, then the new BOINC and then one of the "small" work units. From what I can tell, that puppy is going to run 222 hours. Hum; I wonder why my card was not on the highly recommended list. ![]() By the way, once that rascal is running, your screen response shall we say, is not blindingly fast. I think its going to be a waste of crunching money running that card --Check out Amazon they might have some good deals on a better card---i dont know where i have been but i havnt seen much about WCG running on GPUs |

Good Sunday Morning Team and Visitors I suppose what you guys said about Twinkies is true; I wouldn't know as I never owned one for very long. ![]() I think its going to be a waste of crunching money running that card --Check out Amazon they might have some good deals on a better card---i dont know where i have been but i havnt seen much about WCG running on GPUs I would guess you are correct on that. I really was just going for the experience though. The GPU work unit is running on a I7/2600K along with 8 WCG WUs. I need to do a little investigation and see if it is impinging significantly on the HFCC work. If it is, I really don't want that to go on for all 200+ hours. I have got the experience that I was after..not that there was much to it. I am pretty sure that there is at least one GPU project on the way. Further, I think it has to do with the HCC project in some way. WCG is very enigmatic about it which I hate. But, given how people would react if WCG were to say one thing and then for any reason whatsoever, do something different, I understand their silence.
