I was working on their cancer for a long time but I guess right now they are out of work. So I came over here.
Just curious, is this the same as if I had switched my 'grid' settings to 'proteome'? Thanks |

By the way, I assume the current project is proteome folding. Will it continue until it is completely finished, before going off to a new project? I am not that interested in climate prediction etc.
Thanks. |

Hi and welcome to the WCG!
----------------------------------------![]() ![]() It should, but I do think that in the coming months, there will be more projects going simutaneously, so that people can pick which project to be in. That's to my knowledge only. ![]() As I said, welcome and have fun crunching! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 3, 2005 2:41:11 AM] |

Hello halfcard, welcome to the WCG!
Currently we only have one project, the Human Proteome Folding project. but we hope to have some more choices in time. You can see the schedule for the review cycle at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_showcase/submit_a_proposal.html There has been some recent discussion on this thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2988 But right now we are still starting up, so all I can do is recommend patience. We are actively seeking out new projects and ought to get some before we finish the current Human Proteome Folding project. mycrofth |

oh, interesting! that's ok, i'm mostly interested in human biology/diseases etc. and so just proteomes is fine with me. on top of that, maybe we can re-form the human body one day - like not having an appendix any more, or eating all we want, or whatever

Hi Vaio,
----------------------------------------Yes, the projects are the same. The only difference is I believe UD gets their "work" from here. FYI, for me, I also noticed that with the WCG agent I always get a 100 on my network score. With the grid I would never get a 100 for the network. I would have thought they would be about the same, since it is the same UD program for both. -Paul ![]() “Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. Hi Paul,
Both grid.org and WCG get their batches of work units from the ISB. The ISB is about to go public with the numbers of batches that have been crunched, are being crunched and are still waiting at the ISB to be downloaded for crunching by either grid. [Some of which have not yet been processed to the point of being ready to download. I intend to ask questions about that. ![]() mycrofth |

Hi. I was once a contributor over at Grid.org. The way their overall score was calculated used the network score in the calculation. I am not sure why this was not implemented at WCG in their overall score calculations but I am glad that it was not.
----------------------------------------It always seemed to me that the network score was so trivial in importance relative to the other measurements (processor primarily) that the inclusion of it in the calculations seemed counterproductive. You see, I thought it discouraged folks on dial-up from contributing in that the ones that cared about points were unjustifiably penalized by their line speed while those on fast lines got more points while actually contributing less (in some cases). This actually led to "cheating". Folks figured out a way where they could force their communications score to be 100 no matter how slow their communications speed. Anyway, WCG gives everyone a communications score of 100 so the whole set of issues is nonexistent here. ![]() |
