I noticed the WCG icon on my Windows XP system (lower right corner) says computation suspended and network suspended. So I opened up the Boinic manager and tried to figure out why my system was not contributing.
I have not been able to figure out how to get my laptop to participate. Sadly for the last year I thought it was contributing and only now found out for some reason it is not. On the Bonic manager, project tab I see a World Community Grid entry. It is not suspended, I have not selected "no new tasks". I am not detached. The Tasks tab show no active tasks at all. If I select "show all tasks" I see one task, 0% progress and a status of "Downloading (suspended)". I have not been able to figure out why it is suspended or how to restart on a different project. |

Did you have a look in the BOINC Activity menu? Set Run Always / Network Always Available, then select WCG in the project tab and hit the update button to see what happens. If nothing, please copy the content of the message tab and paste into a next post.

----------------------------------------Um, can I get it to use another hard disk/drive? is that the problem "disk space"? That is straightforward, putting the finger on the sore spot... disk space.
Uninstall and reinstall, then in the screen where you can change the data directory, change the path pointing to a drive where there is ideally at least 2GB or more space. The more cores in the system, the more workspace is needed. Follow this FAQ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28971 for your version, point 4. The installer will move the existing data to the new location. --//-- |

Do verify in the local preferences screen [and in the startup message log] what the current allowed disk-space is and increase it if necessary, default setting 10GB.

That did the trick, I now have two tasks running....
Not sure what is set in my preferences that was preventing work though. |
