Howdy Gang... my hobby is putting together/building plastic models and I like to specialize in science fiction models (Star Trek, Stars Wars, etc). So.... are there any other plastic dependents out there? If so... lets hear what you like to build (armor, planes, cars, figures, etc).

Hey Great... What kind of cars ? Hot rod? Competition? Classic ? When I was a kid a used to build a lot of cars (pretty much anything that I could get my hands on), but right now my thing is Sci Fi models (my head has always been in the stars)

Alan... Congrats.. those are some mean tanks you got there. And the King Tiger looks really great. I didn't know that there was a "see-thru" King Tiger... was that a Tamiya model?

Gang... sorry for not answering back sooner... it was a long hard week at work.
----------------------------------------txyankee: please feel free to post your experiences with wood ships. I've built a couple of real easy wood ships, but nothing compared to what you describe. It is an art to do one of those and you need a lot of patience. The part I find the most challenging is the "stringing" of all the ropes (please forgive my non technical description ). Alan: ah... Scale 1/16... now I understand why I didn't recognize the model (I'm used to working with 1/35 in armor... I find 1/72 too small in most cases). I've never seen one that size up close (although I've seen pictures like yours). Great work. I find modeling a great hobby to relax and forget the stress/pressure of the daily life. It's also a great way to get to know more about world history (who did it, why was it done that way, was it successful, etc) Happy crunchings !!! CJSL |

The hardest for me and the longest part is laying out the haul's.. Each strip is a plank and must be damp in order to heat bend to shape them. Once they are all laid comess the sanding off the ridges laying the keel then varnish the hull. the rest is just cutting to size the right kind of wood and glueing into place then more sanding
