Re: GO Fight Against Malaria System Requirements

I had to post in here after realising I got units for a new project. Seems to be working here! :-))

Re: GO Fight Against Malaria System Requirements

Why are Macintosh computers currently excluded from crunching this project? Will Macs be able to crunch this new project in the future, and if so when?

Re: GO Fight Against Malaria System Requirements

They are not *excluded*... the port has just not finished yet, and as uplinger shared, the beta for this platform is not far off. Think that with all the science result upload transport issues to the science centers (except for FAAH+HPF2), maybe there was a slightly bigger push, and the WCG anniversary splash... 7 year itch, to get this going instead of waiting on the Mac beta

Trust that's not a problem to anyone :O)

Re: GO Fight Against Malaria System Requirements

I have my AMD_PhenomII-1090T_Ubuntu11.10 64bit machine set just now to receive GoFAM to add to the already-selected DSFL in the projectSettings webpage for my account. The said machine runs the BOINC-supplied BOINC_v6.12.33(x86).

My queries:
1] Will the resourceSharing/projectPriority be 50%(GoFAM)-to-50%(DSFL)?.
2] Given that GoFAM and DSFL uses the same VINA engine, an identical systemRequirements, and identical operationalRequirements, is there a possibility of a hardware/software synergy/efficiency when running the two projects together as opposed to running different projects (say, HPF2 and GoFAM, HCC and GoFAM, etc)?

Re: GO Fight Against Malaria System Requirements

I'm seeing 27MB Virtual and 31MB Working set.

I've seen up to 3MB more at most, consistent through the run from start to end. There are three processes, but only one is busy at a time, so it should be irrelevant if the others are swapped out. So, the listed system RAM requirement is 9x what this actually uses under linux. It would run fine on a machine with 64MB RAM, just like HCMD2.

(Not that it matters. I can't imagine there are many machines with 64MB running on WCG any more.)
