Between yesterday and today my ranking in the Members' Points Generated All-Time list went down by 27 places. My points tally is still as before, with yesterday's output added. I don't remember who was where on the list before, but I do remember some of the names above me and have some idea of their relative rankings. One member who was on the same results page before and has about 7M points more, is now positioned below my previous ranking. Thus, 27 members have gained more than 7M points each today, and they have totals above about 100M.
----------------------------------------If you knew your position on this list yesterday, you too will probably find that you have slipped by a similar number of places today. So, who were the big crunchers yesterday? I remember that Marist College and IBM are usually on Page 1 right up near the top of the Members' Points Generated Yesterday list ([OT] should they not be counted in the Teams stats?[/OT]), with the trn-XS So who are these new or newly-rejuvenated super-members? Top of the list is SchalkeComputing, with 52 Device Installations, total points 754,215,283 (rank 20) since joining 12/14/2005, and yesterday he contributed 326,779,103 points, ie almost half of his total. Wow! What kind of super-duper-über-computers has he suddenly aquired? Can I get one? Either some strange database event has occurred, or there's a whole new crew really smokin' the field. I know that Movieman over at XtremeSystems is rallying his troops with another Supercomputer Week, but I didn't think he'd be quite so successful! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Nov 7, 2011 12:33:45 PM] |

Seems to be an error in calculating the points.
----------------------------------------Others also put out this strange change: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32010 Runtime has stayed stable, only the points have increased extremely (not for me )![]() |

Your choice of forum seems better, but there's another thread under BOINC Agent Support that has been discussing this issue since earlier this morning - http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32010. Summary: strange database event seems likely, WCG staff notified.

I knew it last evening that some 20-30 (somewhere around that figure) Teams got crazy Points Generated for some reason. /plays music from 'The Twilight Zone'. ![]() |

Summary: strange database event seems likely, WCG staff notified. Point taken, Tony. The thread became hot very quickly, so obviously it wasn't so massively off-target. The important thing is that it was seen and acted on by the techs, which in the end, we all appreciate. ![]() ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |
