I have a certain number of machines dedicated to WCG full time. Let's take for the sake of simplicity that I have 20 machines running under my account Hypernova. I want to dedicate five machines to five different teams. This is to avoid leaving a team for another team and then coming back. This would avoid a disruption in the contribution.
----------------------------------------Is there a way to dedicate a specific machine to a given team? Or differently is it possible to split the total daily contribution to different teams. I know that you cannot contribute to two teams at the same time, and this is logical but it concerns the whole account. But here the matter is to split the points between various teams, so that there is no double counting. Any way to do that? ![]() |

Base Campers do that all the time.
----------------------------------------I shall put up a note in our Base Camp Forum - and hopefully one of the many who know the trick can assist you, Hypernova ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 6, 2011 10:25:06 AM] |

Hi Hypernova
----------------------------------------You create a different account (Use a different user name and email address) at the project. Then you attach the computers you want to crunch at the project to the new account (detach from the project with the computers you want on the new account then reattach under the new account). Then you can join a different project/team with the computers on the different account. Hope this helps. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by TLD at Nov 6, 2011 6:47:40 PM] |

Is account grouping possible under a super-account? ![]() |

No I don't believe that's possible, I looked into that a couple years ago and it wasn't possible then.
----------------------------------------You just end up with more that 1 account, i used to crunch under TLD@BC at one time and that account is still around but i quit using it some time ago so all my BOINC point would be together. ![]() |

Did you notice TLD gave you an epilogue, Hypernova?
Some Base Campers do this to keep some power at their home teams while Trekking with one or more machines depending on 'farm size'. Is that what you have in mind in the principle - favouring several teams? - and don't get the idea that I'm making any campaigns here |
