I'm actually a big fan of DST. Living on the leading edge of the US Eastern Time Zone I really don't require a whole lot of sunlight at 4:00AM in June & July! I much prefer to have it later in the evening when I can actually enjoy the extra hour of daylight.
---------------------------------------- I grew up on the trailing edge of the US Central TZ and some of the counties north of us in Kansas were actually on Mountain Time. Being on the trailing edge we already had the equivalent of DST without having to change our clocks. Most of the people that live on the back edge of a TZ typically don't like DST; those of us on the front side do. Just goes to show you can't please everybody. ![]() ![]() "Everything in moderation, including moderation" -- Mark Twain |

The DST was initially created to spare energy consumption and it's related cost.
----------------------------------------This was maybe the case when DST was introduced. But is this still the case. Do we really do savings thanks to DST. I am far from being convinced. One reason is related to lighting. Compared to what lighting costed 30 years ago, and today with lighting technology that has reduced consumption by a factor of five at least in our industrialized countries, and the LED lighting technology coming, which should do even better I wonder really if DST is really still worth it. ![]() |
