BTW pcwr & d from birmingham, where did you obtain your fancy widgets? I've got a standard one from My Grid but don't see a way to create one like yours.

Regarding the limited performance of old systems, you need to consider if your electricity bill remains acceptable or not.
After 3.5 years with a P4 HT which brought daily around 500 boinc points, I replaced it in September 2010 with a Phenom II x6 which does not need more electricity but it generates daily around 3'800 boinc points.
The difference reflects directly the contribution in terms of computed WUs. Regarding the reasonable price of the Phenom, the change - initially caused by a defect of the old P4 - made possible a significant improvement in terms of efficiency.
Especially for WCG-only systems, I think that we have also to think in terms of "Green IT". It saves both the environment as well as the bank account wink
