Re: Kyuuninkai Task Force invite you to join us...

Blackheeler, With your help, even just a few days, I can really expect a good standing position for our Xmas challenge about C4CW.....

Yesterday , we were Number 32 on 52 teams !!!! now we are at the 23th position !!!! Being in the top 20 for December 24 is very realistic !!!!!

For Xmas, I should have my HFCC bronze badge, at least 400 results in my team and a position in the top 20 for this challenge... WONdERFUL !!!!!

Re: Kyuuninkai Task Force invite you to join us...

Cricket is an insect, but in this case:
Cricket is a very peculiar British ball game, mon Capitaine.
No-one who did not grow up with it will ever understand.
I remember in awe seeing the crew of a British Navy vessel
playing one summer in my teenage years.
I never understood what it was about.
They threw a little tennis ball at a man crouching in front of some
wood pegs that were hammered into the lawn.
That man tried to hit the ball with a big bat in order to survive.

All that did not matter, because never did I see nicer sports uniforms
- white long trousers, white shirts under wonderful white pullovers, V-neck ones
- and white shoes. They were very, very handsome tongue

And now I'll leave the scientific explanation to the guys.

To me it sounds as if New Zealand beat Australia.

Re: Kyuuninkai Task Force invite you to join us...

lol, I could spend days trying to explain it to you and you would still be no less confused, let's just say it was invented by the British many years ago! laughing
cricket
sunfolk chose an opportune time to bring up the game as our two nations have just finished playing each other in a test series, the second game of which they were lucky enough to win today tongue biggrin

edit: beaten to the punch, lovely description and correct guess LM!

Re: Kyuuninkai Task Force invite you to join us...

blushing Thank you, blackheeler
I hope you'll get your revenge.
Test match! Testing what?
See, it's really cryptic like the
"World Series" for something that only
takes place in North America

And now it comes to mind:
Isn't there an idiom saying:
"That's not cricket"
- meaning unfair, even immoral, unethical?
One that could be compared to:
"That's not kosher"
- which I believe is the American verion of the same thing.

Hey! With sunfolk's arrival I gotta upgrade my signature!
Geokamyoc, we are five, we only have four challenges biggrin

Hello Blackheeler,

I know cricket as a game but in your sentence, you use the word as an expression I was not sure to understand.....

do you know the expression "this guy is a monday morning quarterback"???.... A quarterback is a leading position in American football , a monday morning quarterback is a guy which say always what to do ..... AFTER THE EVENT OCCURED, because in USA, Football games are on sunday afternoon

Re: Kyuuninkai Task Force invite you to join us...

Four is Death sad
That's very unfortunate.
If the three Base Campers leave Saturday, you'll be down to your original two members.
That's very unfortunate.
It would be fortunate, if
- if some crunchers would join your team, Geokamayoc.
But in all honesty, it is very hard to make them pay attention
- not to mention: Join!
You have tried that for several months.
What can we do?
Offer new team members free onsen?
