LM, that was just the practical side of me. You're like a lot of folks. You have a brain and are quite able to use it. Putting that sig together took all of maybe a minute. Seeing what you had with the links converted makes it very easy to see and understand how it works and how to do it. It's like the "a picture is worth a thousand words" saying. Same idea. When you see how it is done, it's very easy to understand. Thank you very much, keithhenry. That was an excellent speech. As for your "few" WUs, every bit matters and every bit helps. There's not much you can do these days for a dollar but, get together with 100 other people with their dollars and now you have 100 dollars. With a common goal, you can act together and do even more than 100 instances of what can be done for a dollar as 100 dollars together have more power. That is the essence of our crunching. Together, we can do more. Every WU matters. So yes, yours make a difference. Every member matters. Enjoy your trekking but I hope you'll find that MOT is where you want to call "home" between treks. You'll always be welcome here. Does your profession have to do with putting words together? And where are you from? Well, yes, the USA I suppose, but which state? |

Good Morning MOT (now exclusively including little mermaid) ![]() Congratulations Blueprint! Man...as I said, I am not really a baseball fan but dang; "my" Rangers took a "woopin" last night. ![]() As a normal case, I don't watch too much in the way of sports TV. Today, we have the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Sprint Cup race. I suppose that is good because if they were all on at different times, I would just waste more time watching all 3. This way, it will save me several hours in that I won't watch all of a DVR'ed event... just skip to the tail end and see the conclusion. Actually, I don't know what I am complaining about..I don't give any of them my full attention, I mostly just listen to them and look at the TV occasionally while I do something else on the computer.. Usually creating/changing a website, program or graphics. ... or just poking about on the web. Thanks dkt... ...no pressure. In the last year or so, I have noticed how ridiculously addicted so many folks have become to their "smart phones". I would get this bemused look on my face while thinking that folks are always someplace else. They are here and now doing something interesting and yet, they are intensely staring at that tiny screen; sliding their fingers this way and that and trying to type on that impossibly small keyboard. What a strange thing to do and such a waste; similar to what some folks think of people using computers...but of course that is totally different. Then, the keys on my wife's old cell phone got to sticking and made it impractical to try to punch in a number. So we went to the cell phone store. Woops.... Now we both have DROID smart phones and I am sitting in a restaurant waiting on the food and texting my granddaughter when I look up and see a man sitting across from me, looking back with this bemused look on his face. Everyone remember that no matter where you go....... ..............there you are. Thanks for all you do for the WCG and Have a super day. |

You'll always be welcome here. Does your profession have to do with putting words together? And where are you from? Well, yes, the USA I suppose, but which state? If I seem to be "speechifying", it's probably a bit of a habit I have here in the forums. With the tremendous diversity of folks reading these fora, I've found over the years here that it's sometimes all to easy to be misunderstood. I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt since you lose so much when you're limited to just the written word. However, I mean every word in my posts here. You really are important to this team, just like every other member we have! There have been times I have found myself wanting to go trekking but my place is here with MOT. I am intensely proud of the folks on this team and what we have all done. Our growth has been tremendous. We're close to doing double our typical day at the start of this year. I wish more folks could be a part of this. WCG, and crunching in general, is a lot like volunteering for a charity group. When you find one that has a lot of meaning for you, you find that it becomes very important to you and more and more a part of your life. So it is for me and so many folks here. I guess when you're talking about something that is so important to you, it comes out in how you talk about it! Oh, and I'm in a very small town called Waleska just north/northwest of Atlanta, GA. |

Georgia, keithhenry, must be a place with many nice people.
RCC_Survivor of Team *The Survivors* with whom I recently trekked is a Georgian, too. I can easily relate to your thoughts about words coming easy when you are passionate about a cause and about people - I am all the time - some good excuse for my chronic blabbering ![]() |
