I tried asking timidly
- but with all your fancy badges you hardly notice a modest mermaid - so I dressed up a little ![]() My question was: <OT*OT*OT - hello Marist College Do you live in Poughkeepsie, NY?> - but it's my experience that not many feel like answering my question: "Where do you come from" - the thread I made is buried deep, deep down on the list If I get the time, I'll revive it one day ... |

@cleanenergy...after reading the requirements post, it states:
----------------------------------------* CEP2 is the first WCG project to use an external server - your results are directly uploaded to Harvard for optimum efficiency Can you share the IP address(es) that our BOINC clients will be hitting @ Harvard? We do have proxies in some labs on campus, and this may be an issue. We do have WCG's IP's exempted in our firewall. Thanks.![]() |

<OT*OT*OT - hello Marist College Do you live in Poughkeepsie, NY?> Don't see what the relevance is, but yes, Marist College is in Poughkeepsie, NY, as am I. http://www.marist.edu ![]() |

I lived there once, but of course it's of no relevance ...
----------------------------------------- and I did write OT no less than three times, didn't I? ![]() - be a little kinder than necessary - everybody you meet has some fight of his own to battle ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 8, 2011 4:31:42 PM] |

Dear marist_college,
while the servers are here, the traffic is organized by IBM. I'll ask them to come back to you on this question. Thanks for supporting CEP! We should get more schools and colleges to join WCG. That would make a huge impact. Best wishes Your Harvard CEP team |

We're silver now...so it appears the change from 1 WU to 2 WUs fixed us. It appears that our proxied machines can't do net communication, so the Networking guys are going to add the IPs in knreed's post. Did WCG recently change or add additional IPs?

Yes they did. There are the 3 for the special ''unchanging files'' download servers. Those that start with 170.

One should not waste one's time thinking about a
- as I see - rude answer to a friendly question. But I do. You made me sad for no reason at all - or do you have a battle to fight, too? That one badge that will not turn sapphire? Well, it's nice of you to hoard all the Marist College's computers. There are many ways in which to excel. nasher, densnaps and I - and probably many, many more crunchers whom I have not met yet - and who are probably far more friendly and polite than you in spite of the battlle we have to fight - supply the cancer for which we are trying to find a cure - and we excel in trying to survive. To me it was interesting to see the name Marist College. If you had asked me about Herlufsholm Kostskole because you had lived in my town for 3 months 25 years ago, I would have answered you quite differently. But sheer socializing seems not to be part of your crunching experience. So pardon me for intruding. Congratulations on your badge turning a different color .... |

little mermaid, that's not how we know you. Think marist_college prefers the businesslike approach. S/He's not hoarding computers [maybe lost in translation and meant differently to what I'm reading in 2D]... they've been for long an official contributing partner to WCG [visit the about page, sidebar to find who are] who sparsely check into the forum for an issue, as you can see from the post count.
----------------------------------------Happy crunching, I hear a high pressure system over France is pushing warm air in the Danish/Dutch direction for a little respite from rain and storm this weekend. ttyl --//-- edit: sidebar [without the space].
