First Error should I be worried?

Hi

I have been crunching for some 6 months and today received my first error.......well that I can remember......should I be worried?

Last section of the result log states the following:-

Plz look in the client message log around the time the task finished and copy to a reply.

What platform is this on?

Sorry I have rebooted the machine since then so I can not see the messages, are they logged anywhere?

Machine is Win 7 64bit.

I reckon I was just unlucky..........if I see it again I will save the messages....

Some of the early workunits had 200 tasks, which generated a file that was too large and errored out. The more recent ones should have been cut down. This may or may not be the problem, but it can be checked in the my grid result statistics.

Under Windows the messages are written to a file in the Boinc data folder. To find the data folder look at the start of the Messages in the Boinc Manager. It should start with a line like this:

9/7/2011 10:37:30 AM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.58 for windows_intelx86

and a few or more lines after that will be one that reads:

9/7/2011 10:37:30 AM Data directory: C:\WCG\Data

The above is from one of my PCs and my Boinc data folder is C:\WCG\Data

In that folder will be the file stdoutdae.txt which is where the messages are written. When you start Boinc the Manager only shows the messages from the start, but the stdoutdae file will contain all of them. FYI, when the file reaches about 2MB it is renamed stdoutdae.old and a new stdoutdae.txt file is started. If you don't see the time period you're looking for in the .txt file look in the .old file.

similar issue here with an I7 running Win 7 64 bit, 4 Wus were running just fine, and now they came out with this:

Thanks all, I am not on the machine that had the error at the moment but I will look later at the log files.......always good to know where they are.

The WU had 40 tasks so not a huge one.

I did turn the machine off around this time and we had a power cut early in the day but this should effect it.

I will keep an eye on other WU's being run.......but boy these are long ones.
