Just throwing this out there, but how good is your internet connection? Do you have other programs that use a lot of bandwidth? You can use websites like www.speedtest.net to evaluate your connection. And you can even check out Task manager/Networking to get a clue about your network usage.

Maybe if you could post the WU in question and some more data, it will help others get a better idea of what's going on.

Sorry I took so long to reply - I forgot to check back. I've got broadband cable - dl averages about 15, upload 0.9. Most of the time the computer is doing nothing but BOINC. I guess I will abort this thing - it's going nowhere.

I am interested how to get that stat panel you two posted - I don't see it anywhere, don't know where to look, but it's a handy thing.

As for your original question, the best answer I can come up with is "it happens occasionally". This issue has been going on for years and it's so uncommon that it is really difficult to track down what is causing the problem.

Just abort the work unit and you are not likely to ever see one again.
