I've noticed on a i7-965 and several i7-620 machines, running W7 64-bit, that the gap between "elapsed time" and "processor time" has been narrowed since about last week.
Old values were like 12 hours for processor time and 13-18 hours for elapsed time. New values are 12 hours processor time and 12.2 - 12.3 hours for elapsed time ![]() |

The science application version has not changed, and my Windows 7-64 bit had since about 3 patch Tuesdays ago an efficiency of 99% [see past discussions] i.e. not at all clear why it would only now be kicking in for you. The last patch Tuesday was last week... maybe your system had not fetched them yet.

I've never seen wallclock times beyond 13 hours on neither my i7 notebook nor my 6 year old amd. Maybe you just didn't use you machines for purposes other than crunching in a couple of days - or had them throttled less?
----------------------------------------Anyhow, it can't be because of the "faulty checkpointing+start over" problem, because the elapsed time count is then set back, too. Cheers. edit: typo [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 17, 2011 12:23:32 PM] |

herna,
Maybe you just didn't... Probably you meant: "Maybe you just did..." Yes, when I use the machine the efficiency drops rapidly, certainly my duo goes down to < 90%. Here's a mostly daytime and versus a mostly nighttime result on W7-32 6.40 cep2 E202958_122_C.27.C20H13N3OSSi2.00277578.4.set1d06_0 14:10:41 (12:00:00) 17-08-2011 04:54 17-08-2011 05:00 Reported: OK * (85%) 6.40 cep2 E202854_358_C.28.C21H10N4OS2.00594401.4.set1d06_2 12:58:47 (12:00:00) 16-08-2011 09:03 16-08-2011 09:09 Reported: OK * (93%) Think my numbers might be coming up after ridding the space shortage suffering BOINC drive of a couple of 750MB sized OS-CD images. Had enormous HD trashing lately, but thought it was just the monster data models and HQ res graphics I'm working on :) --//-- |

Strange though... ![]() Well, whatever did it, good for you it's now racing. Some time ago caught BOINCTasks out in eating loads of CPU time. After consulting with Fred, tweaking some settings, the issue disappeared. From hours a day down to now 7 minutes since last launch, yesterday morning. --//-- |
