Test batch for new HFCC target (target-7)

We will be send out work units for a single batch (1000 work units) for HFCC shortly. Work units from this target/batch have already been tested internally without problems. The Chiba researchers have already provided all of the batches for target-7, so if this test goes well we can begin to release the rest of the batches for the target at the normal rate.

Did these not go out as a Beta run then?

Re: Test batch for new HFCC target (target-7)

These did not get run in Beta. We have had very good success between targets in the past. So we did a small in house test and determined it was good to run the first batch in prod. We are working towards building more batches. We wanted to get work out to the members as quickly as we could.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

That could very well be going by the WU naming posted above... the Techs used to run a test batch in production for the Auto-dock based sciences, to determine what the best sizing is for the specific experiment runs. That's fine, least effort, the results good to be used by the scientists.

edit: ignore... uplinger replied with the suspected answer :D

Re: Test batch for new HFCC target (target-7)

Uplinger/seippel, can you confirm;
a) that there'll still be two targets (7 & 8) as was indicated a few months ago,
b) that these targets are roughly the same size as previous targets, and;
c) that you'll be able to get some more batches out before you finish for the day.

I'd hate to start my transition from Emerald to Sapphire for this project and then discover that there's not quite enough work for me to reach 2 years (which, for me, will take ~4 months) biggrin

Re: Test batch for new HFCC target (target-7)

A. That is the plan
B. Yes
C. If I get a few more results from members (some validated) then I'll release the 19,000 more work units. We are working to download more batches at the moment.

Thanks,
-Uplinger
