Hello,
----------------------------------------just a problem with my new Ubuntu and built-in Boinc 6.10.59. Can't get WUs to work. They are shown as New and after a time I'm getting the abort message: 'not started and deadline has passed'. No visible running or paused downloads. Any idea? Thanks ![]() |

What does the system clock say? The clock is working with correct time (zone) and date. I resetted the project and I got three WUs - same behaviour. After ~ one hour the WUs were aborted. After restating Boinc I have now paused downloads- those from the reset. And I can't activate the paused downloads. Tried it also with system restart. ![]() So I resetted again- now nothing happens. Ok I'll try a Boinc re-install. Update: download is working ![]() Next Update: Looks like the 6.10.59 isn't stable. In the Projects- tab the countdown (requested by user) is resetting every time from 23:59:53 back to 23:59:59. I now clicked again the Update button and Master File was downloaded again. When I now switch between the tabs I'm getting a new countdown. Once it was showing 59 seconds- I come back to the tab and the countdown is somewhere around 1:59 - strange. ![]() [Edit 5 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Jul 14, 2011 12:50:09 PM] |

Odd... some search hits on this message:
----------------------------------------http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6278 You don't tell if there was an old Ubuntu on that machine. Do those aborted tasks show on the Result Status page? Open the Result Status page and compare the ''In Progress'' WU with what shows in the Tasks view of BOINC Manager, what deadline they're having. How did you suspend downloading? The Activity menu would indicate the Networking selection. Set it to suspended, then back to Network Always. There's also a Do Networking on the Advanced Menu. else, no clue, but to ask to post the message log from the start to where the Not Started... are printed. One suggestion was that insufficient memory is allocated, so those tasks would never run. --//-- edit: See things started running, thus will tick of as resolved. It was a four weeks old fresh VM-install - 2GB RAM.
----------------------------------------I didn't suspend downloading or network. The last three aborted three WUs are shown as 'In Progress' ( estimated) runtime 2 days 23 hours- the others are 'error'. No logfile. The problem was the download- not the memory. 14-Jul-2011 12:44:53 [World Community Grid] Resetting project 14-Jul-2011 12:45:55 [World Community Grid] update requested by user 14-Jul-2011 12:45:57 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 14-Jul-2011 12:45:57 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks 14-Jul-2011 12:46:00 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 3 new tasks ... 14-Jul-2011 12:46:00 [World Community Grid] Message from server: Resent lost result BETA_dg01_a046_pr02a1_0 14-Jul-2011 12:49:35 [World Community Grid] work fetch suspended by user 14-Jul-2011 13:40:03 [World Community Grid] Aborting task BETA_dg01_a046_pr02a1_0; not started and deadline has passed Thats it. Hi Mathilde,
----------------------------------------Just one question: does the clock of the VM-Guest run monotone? Depending of the configuration of the guest system (VM), you can experience some troubles and I am not sure how Boinc would react if the clock suddenly springs backward. Cheers, Yves |

The next client after 6.12, which could be 6.14 or 7.02 will be made to better fit with VM environments.

Yes- clock with secondsdid run fine.
----------------------------------------So far the Boinc never had a problem with download and crunching- just yesterday. All I changed was my new DSL modem/router yesterday- but LAN is on an other router behind the new one and I didn't encounter problems at all. ![]() |
