Heya!
I realized that I don't have any really interesting projects on my BOINC PC anymore - all the cool projects are out of work. And I only seem to get boring mathematical tasks from the other projects. So I think WCG have two cool projects. Here's the problem. I disabled all the other projects apart from WCG. But I still only get ONE task so that my CPU works 50& only. I tried to enable more projects inside WCG but they still only ship me one task instead of more. Whats up with that? How can I fix it? Thanks! |

Hello Fruktkake,
For starters, post the first part of the Messages Tab from the Advanced view. That will tell us what sort of system you have. Also, go to My Grid - Device Manager and look at Selected Profile. I am using a named profile (Home) which I have edited rather than the Default profile that comes with a new BOINC installation. I have set Home to (hmmm. .) originally to Maximum Output, then I changed some of the options to the way I wanted them, then I saved the changes. Some of the options I didn't want to select at all - selecting 0 usually means Do Not Select. I am perfectly happy letting BOINC have 75-90% of my memory, etc. And make sure you set 'On multiprocessors, use: 100% of processors'. Also set Leave Application in Memory to Yes. BOINC projects will be swapped out to Virtual Memory if you are running another program but you will not loose any computations unless you reboot which will cause BOINC to restart from the last checkpoint. Hey again my friend!
----------------------------------------OK, so I tried what you did and entered the maximum settings and double-checked it uses 100% CPU. I don't think it was the CPU because I used to run Ibercivis along with WCG and other projects, I never had problems with that setting. I checked the log and it said something about too low bandwidth for reason why WCG dont give me work, which is impossible because I have ADSL2 with 20mbits.. So what I did now is I also enabled more projects in the WCG websites, and now I have 2 muscular work units running. I started out because I wanted to use both cores on the clean energy project, but afterwards now I end up using 0 most of the time! What do you think is the actual problem, my settings or the server-side settings for the clean energy project? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 16, 2011 10:21:34 PM] |

You need to specifically configure your system to run on CEP2; override the bandwidth and default CPU usage of one core.
To do this you first need to configure your default profile to run more than one CEP2 task at a time and ignore bandwidth restrictions. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewProfiles.do Hope that helps, but if not you can read more in this CEP2 project thread. Good luck and I respect your choice of projects ![]() |
