RobSab --
I believe that there are two possible causes for this. The first is that you tried to access a post that has been deleted. I think I saw this when one posting in a forum referenced another post as the resolution to a problem. The target had been deleted by Admin since the code bug that caused the situation had been corrected. I informed the team of this and they indicate that they will not delete the posts in the future but will instead edit the posting to indicate that the solution is no longer necessary. I have also seen this when I have been in the "Who's Online" listing and was curious to see what another of the Admin's was viewing. As I was not logged on under my Community Admin userid, I did not have access to the restricted forum that the other Admin was viewing and got this same message. Best Regards, |

RobSab,
The thread in the picture you posted (which perhaps you could shrink down next time?) is in the Community Admin Discussion Forum. That forum is accessible only to Community Admins and those of us who work on the World Community Grid. This is not a bug in the forums. That is how it is supposed to work. How did you get to that thread? If you were clicking on threads in the Who's Online listing, as Lewis suggested, then you'll just want to remember that the Community Admins and others who work on WCG have access to some forums that other members do not. nelsoc |

oooops..... I was not trying to break in to anything
...I usually select the "recent threads" option on the menu bar and read what is new. This happened when I either tried to move to the next page, or I pressed the reply button. I honestly cannot remember. ... hmmm should I have been able to view that thread in the first place if it is just for the Admin team? ![]() As for image size - point taken - will fix it just now - 80k is heavy! |

Interesting... I thought I was going to run into your problem, Rob, because I went to reply to a post (my first reply!) and it was logged in up in the righthand corner, but it didn't have the usualy My Forum Profile link in the subheader...
But! I was able to reply successful without logging in! I was worried it was going to tell me I wasn't logged in even though I was. Perhaps the WCG guys have already taken care of this for us? That would be some good customer service! |

Darkwing,
We have actually fixed the problem that RobSab had. I don't think what you're describing would have been the same error anyway, since Rob was trying to access a restricted forum. The error message Rob encountered now lets members know that they don't have sufficient permissions to view the thread they are trying to access. nelsoc |

No so much an error, as an "interesting" feature
----------------------------------------If you select"Recent Threads" and the use the sorting options at the top and set them to: Author, descending then you get an alphabetical listing by authors of the threads. THE INTERESTING PART is that it first displays the non-capitalized autorhors and then the Authors whose names start with capital letters i.e. zyxw...dcba and then ZYXW.....DCBA I know there is a technical reason for that, but the practicality is ... how can I put it ...NEW, inovating and questionable [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 23, 2005 2:03:17 PM] |

The technical reason why the authors are being displayed this way is that the sort is done by ascii character value. The decimal value of of lowercase 'z' is 122, where as 'Z' has the value of 90. This is why the patern is the way you see it. Hope this helps. |
