My calculations for FAAH won't go past 4%. They do well up until about 3.995, and then go back to 3.000%, over and over and over again. The computer can do this for hours, so I end up aborting the task. I've tried this with about 10 tasks now over the past year, on a different computer as well, and the same thing happens. This doesn't happen to any other project that I do work on.
Does anyone have the same problem, and is there a solution? Thanks for everything! |

Hi Paul,
----------------------------------------Yes, that's normal behavior... the program is looking for the lowest docking energy for that attempt. Just let it run uninterrupted. Depending on device speed it can take longer. Then it will rush to near the end of the next docking and tries repeatedly and so on. See Screen saver/Graphics: FightAIDS@Home - Panel C: Best Docking Energy http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/faah/faq.do for what you can observe in the graphics window [select running task and hit show graphics button on left] or screensaver. --//-- edit: Can you please tell us the device detail. How much ram has it got and how much is BOINC allowed to use? The information is printed at the beginning of the BOINC message log. Thanks SekeRob! This would make sense. I've set the project to continue regardless and see where it goes.
BOINC is set to use all of the computer's faculties completely, 1 GB of RAM, but is limited in hard drive space (only allowed 5 GB). Intel Celeron processor at 100% use, 2.60 GHtz. It's old but a year ago it did the calculations without a problem. I think you've solved my issue- I'm just going to let it run. Thanks again! Paul Dwaine |
