Pros: It's easy... but what about cons? Springs to mind it's killing your kidneys, certainly unusable in dialysis, associated with Alzheimer and other forms of dementia... well a pro would be that you would not know what killed you. http://www.hints-n-tips.com/aluminum.htm has a few things to say on the matter.
Fitkari seems to be the Indian spelling for Alum... yes got it in the bathroom to stop a bleed. --//-- |

Thnks- This was really helpful to know more on cons for Alum -
In villages people tend to use only borewells to Pump ground water for drinking & same water flows back to mother earth - Isn't that harmful still i have found people drinking & living lives more than 80-100yrs in comparison to people who stay in cities & uses all of scientific filters & techniques for ensuring clean drinking water, If the ground water withouth any filterization is harmful Is there a scope to do something over there probably with the borewell pumps attaching some part as a filterization . |

Reports that trace aluminium compounds contribute to dementia were dismissed by at least two independent sources more than three years ago. Aluminium comprises about 8% of the earths surface, and compounds of it are largely inescapeable by humans.
----------------------------------------Aluminium sulphate (not 'alum') is widely used in the UK and Europe at almost all large-scale water treatment plants, with no ill effects, other than a large poisoning outbreak a few years ago, when a UK driver tipped tonnes of it into the wrong tank. Clean water needs aluminium sulphate for water treatment, more than we need internet scare stories and conspiracy theories about it. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Hardnews at Jul 5, 2011 5:55:36 AM] |
