Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
E A Poe

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
E A Poe

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

From yesterday's Poetry Workshop with Jacob Polley at Poetry at the Parsonage in Haworth

"Talisker Bay"
Pass the sole distillery
far from the madding crowd
single track
passing places
unsuitable for motor vehicles
the end of the line

Onto foot
track becomes path
the edge of existence
becomes boulder field

In that bubble of isolation
left behind the peacock's call and strut
time stretched passes
in orbit the sun crashes
into the rolling silence of loneliness
turned
solitary solitude

I have been away. I am back rose
A full circle

Re: The Shortest Poem

Thks David Autumns for that marvelous pic
(that remind me of a friend of mine travelling around the world and sending me only sunsets postcards of all places)
and i share this one:

I Will Wait For Sunset…. - Poem by Satarupa Rudrapal

I will wait for sunset, yes sunset,
for it is then that
all creatures return home to their beloved,
and i too will return to the welcoming
arms of my love.......

Time

rose TIME

They can dispense any brand of happy pills
They can electrocute your brain into oblivion
They can sweet talk you to sleep
They can hard talk you into
- if you were well, the word would be fury
They can reason with you, they think
They can put on white coats
They can wear casual
What do you care?

And the years pass
And pass
And pass
Are you alive at all?

And then one day
All of a sudden
For no particular reason
No special birds singing
No special flowers unfolding their colors
You wake up and feel like living

And the next day, too

You are unable to believe it
You are scared
Scared that all of a sudden it might retreat
That feeling of Life worth living
You tiptoe around it
Keeping your movements gentle, slow, utterly cautious
How to preserve it?

Time heals all wounds
The saying goes
Were there only enough of this thing called time to dispense
coffee

Re: Time

Birds do not grow feathers,
By willing them.
All they know,
Is the desire to fly.
They keep their eye on the skies,
Creation does the rest,
And one day they find themselves able,
To move their limbs,
And leave the ground.
rose
Welcome back, little mermaid!
