No "finished" file.

Hi all,

Project oj... and project CMD... are exiting with the message, exited with zero status but no finished file. If this happens repeatedly, you may need to reset the project. Well, it is happening repeatedly. I assume that I should reset the project. How is that done?

Thanks

Mitch

Re: No "finished" file.

Ah, I have found discussions elsewhere. I will look there. Thanks

Re: No "finished" file.

The root cause for the fastest majority of times with No finished file / zero status is either a very busy system [hard disk mostly], set BOINC to pause e.g. at 50% + Run Based on Preferences, so set prefs:

- While computer is in use: Tick box
- While Processor usage is less than 50 percent (0 means no restriction).

or something is actively obstructing the communication between science and core client and or BOINC Manager. After it's firewall or antivirus, the one fix there to exclude scanning of the BOINC data directory, which on most Vista/W7 systems is C:\ProgramData\BOINC (printed at top of client message log).

PS, an "oj" task is probably HPF2 combined with HCMD2. That's a semi heavy project combined with a light project. How big is the additional buffer set (amount of work stored on computer)? Unless there are special reasons, keep it below 2 days.
