Hi Team,
I have created a second user because I thougth that I was not able to recover my original password. Now I have points spread over two users and I need to join the point on a single user. Can you help me please ? Thanks in advance, Rui Mineiro |

I and many people in WCG, will wondr if WCG change this fact and implement a feature someday in the future which will allow us do it. It is one of frequent requests in WCG forums. Have a nice day. Hi Rui, until I know it's impossible to do (merge accounts). I and many people in WCG, will wondr if WCG change this fact and implement a feature someday in the future which will allow us do it. It is one of frequent requests in WCG forums. Have a nice day. Actually it is a new 'feature' in one of the Server side software releases but ONLY an Admin can do it. I have no idea if WCG uses that relase verison or not though.   |

Hi Rui, welcome to WCG forums.
----------------------------------------To my knowledge there is no BOINC project on the globe that has an account merging facility [registrations are unique email address based] and would it become an admin job to do this, at the size WCG is at, it would become a salaried full time job, money obviously spend better on science progressing tasks [my opinion]. WCG is working to adopt more and more 'standard' and latest BOINC features and shedding the old UD remnant front and back end parts slowly, meaning what WCG would do has always to remain with BOINC world in mind. What works here has to work elsewhere too, else the code could not be integrated. Account jacking is an inherent risk with such a facility... accounts of users that have gone completely dormant with easy passwords, or knowing the email address, dark ways to have the recovery email redirected... all to get hand on some extra points. We've observed Team jacking too. Suddenly several teams moved country flag. Hard to believe, but I've watched it happening, so safeties have to be solid. There used to be a dirty trick, by assigning those accounts with the same email address, so at some 3rd party statistics sites, not BOINCStats, multiple accounts could add up to one statistic, but WCG removed that ability as that too conflicted with the rest of the BOINC world [the mentioned unique email address requirement]. Sorry, but my hopes on that becoming a possibility are very low... got multiple accounts too with fair amount of points on them. Olhe, fique sempre a vontade para estar compartilhando conosco suas ideias, dicas, duvidas, sugestoes e discussoes sobre os diversos temas do WCG em geral, pois e essencialmente o que temos feito la no thread que lhe apontei no link. Temos incrementado bastante a participacao de pessoas (que falam o Portugues) por conta de passarmos a fomentar e dedicar as discussoes no thread, sendo feitas em Portugues. Ja tentamos ha alguns anos, e de diversas formas e com diversos argumentos, que o WCG adote o Portugues como uma das linguas oficiais, mas as prioridades do WCG certamente sao outras, e isto nao vai acontecer tao cedo, infelizmente... talvez em muito longo prazo, um dia venha a acontecer. Ate la, faremos o possivel atraves do thread, mesmo sendo um espaco que se originou para dar suporte a um time, mas que se desenvolveu e evoluiu para ampliar gratificantemente seu alcance, e hoje proporciona suporte a quem desejar dentre aos irmaos de idioma. Nao deixa de ser nossa forma de protestar... um forte abraco !
