Morning Team! Another sunny... no wait, cloudy... rainy... sunny again day (and that's just before 10am) here in the leafy South East of England.
----------------------------------------Just realised that I'm approaching Emerald globe territory for my sig. I wonder if I'll make it before these alleged new projects appear to put a dent in the RT/prj number? @jonnieb-uk good work on the first 5,000 members work. I never doubted you for a minute ![]() |

Good going to everyone on their milestones and personal bests
---------------------------------------- I am eecking my way to 5 years on CEP2, but I have to go slowly on it due to my internet grinding to a complete halt whenever even 1 work unit is uploading (let alone 4 at once), the ONLY site I can access is WCG, ALL other sites refuse to load and time-out?? I would love to know why that is and if there's a work-around but have never found an answer? ![]() ![]() |

I've a feeling that a 'brake' was inserted into the uploading code way back in the early days. It was supposed to be removed somewhere down the line but obviously is still in place.
----------------------------------------I'll have a browse and post anything of interest. ![]() |

CEP2 is one of my weaker projects, as my VMs and physical server in work can't run it due to its requirements, leaving only my gaming PC (which I'm still testing after a fresh Windows-install). Assuming the project is still running when I get the "monster" server, that might be able to chew through a few workunits at a time... Same here Thargor. After I got my Sapphire badge, I avoided the project like the plague due to its requirements, and the very long runtimes which do not favour idle only crunching. Thought I might give it a little boost on my i5 3570k and i3 3225 running 24/7, with plenty of internet bandwidth. I do not like my current global points ranking of 666. Might bring the devil out in me! ![]()

@ TMC
----------------------------------------It seems upload speed of completed WUs has always been an issue. This FAQ has some suggestions. In particular I think editing cc_config.xml to restrict uploads to one at a time might be worth exploring. My understanding is the restriction is possible on either a global basis or on a project specific basis. BOINC: When there are internet bandwidt... for one or more clients. Client Configuration with "cc_config.xml" |

Client Configuration with "cc_config.xml" Thanks for the links, I'll have a look, but regarding CC_Config to allow only 1 at once.. Even uploading 1 only and from only 1 system, stops me from accessing Any website except WCG, which is what I don't understand, why can WCG load up as normal when uploading even just 1 CEP2 but no other website will, even google will time-out? Thats why I'm doing FA@H at the same time as, rather than going all out on CEP2, as I do need internet access atleast for some of the day (going all out basically prevents me from surfing completely). ![]() ![]() |

It does certainly seem odd that while uploading CEP2 you can only access WCG. I only run this project at home and while uploading however many megs worth of the CEP result file, I can still access any pages albeit slower than normal.
----------------------------------------Not much help I have to admit! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by genhos at Jun 7, 2013 6:28:09 PM] |

So, I've hit Ruby for HPF2 and just dumped 80 WUs back into the pool for others.
I've currently got DSFL and SN2S running, and I'm getting a ratio of 9:1 with the number of WUs I'm getting. I hadn't realised the slow release of WUs was quite so much compared with other projects. Next RT target is 1 year for DSFL! And I realised I'm now top 1000 for RT in the UK. |

Indeed, when running a "normal" mix of project the slowdown of SNS units is very noticeable.
----------------------------------------And congrats Maugan on breaking the top UK 1000 for RT. |
